Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Advanced Electronic Components and Systems; Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies; Communications Technologies; IoT Sensing and AI Technologies; and Intelligent Perception and Control Technologies.
It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits and Metaverse.
Over the years, ASTRI has nurtured a pool of research, I&T talents and received numerous international awards for its pioneering innovations as well as outstanding business and community contributions. To date, ASTRI has transferred about 1,600 technologies to the industry and has been granted close to 1,200 patents in the Mainland, the United States, and other countries.
To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):
Job Requirements:
- Responsible for Business Development and Technology Delivery to customers
- Develop a thorough understanding of the TD’s capabilities and innovations to identify opportunities with prospective clients, qualify the lead and close the deal
- Devise and execute sales strategies to secure new business, including high-level sales calls, aggressive networking and marketing activities, underpinned by competitive analysis, ingenious presentation and proposal to client meeting
- Identify the pain points of industries or government entities and explore how the TD’s capabilities and IP may lead to new R&D projects that provide the solutions to prospective clients
- Facilitate licensing and commercialization by engaging system integrators in the ecosystem
- Leverage existing connections to develop and grow the client base for the TD
- Work closely with internal teams and external partners to strategize and build pipelines of collaboration projects, including working with researchers to initiate research projects
- Maintain specifications and functional integrity of the interim and final deliverables to clients
- Interfacing between researchers and clients, to anticipate and mitigate potential risks throughout the project life cycle
- Participate in the preparation and follow-up of those projects, where appropriate
Job Responsibilities:
- Master’s degree or above with a minimum of 7 years of work experience in sales, marketing, business development, or R&D within the technology sector. An engineering or science background will be a plus. Candidates with less experience may be considered for a managerial position
- Experienced in sales and business development with a track record of building and growing customer bases. Possess strong sales, pitching and stakeholder management skills
- A good understanding of new technology areas such as AI, Data Analytics, Blockchain, Cybersecurity, and Privacy Protection
- Interested in technologies with strong business acumen and a strategic mindset
- An independent self-starter with a sales-oriented, meticulous personality, an aggressive work attitude, and a strong desire to succeed
- Good command of English and Chinese, fluent Putonghua is a plus
- A technical background, along with sales experience, is preferred
- Experience in working on or working with research projects preferred
- Experience in Fintech, Smart City, Metaverse or Digital Health is a plus

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
