Senior Manager/ Manager, Strategy

Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Advanced Electronic Components and Systems; Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies; Communications Technologies; IoT Sensing and AI Technologies; and Intelligent Perception and Control Technologies. 

 

It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits and Metaverse.

Over the years, ASTRI has nurtured a pool of research, I&T talents and received numerous international awards for its pioneering innovations as well as outstanding business and community contributions. To date, ASTRI has transferred almost 1,500 technologies to the industries and been granted more than 1,100 patents in the Mainland, the US, and other countries.

To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Support ASTRI's strategic plan by executing strategic initiatives and ensure ASTRI's strategies align with public interests.
  • Manage strategic partnerships with stakeholders in the innovation and technology ecosystem to enhance Hong Kong’s role as a global innovation hub.
  • Collaborate with various departments to increase ASTRI's visibility to the public.
  • Respond to public policies and adjust ASTRI’s strategies to align with government directions.
  • Facilitate communication between business interests and public policy.
  • Implement ASTRI’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) and public mission-related programs, work closely with influential stakeholders such as think tanks, federations, chambers of commerce, and media.
  • Manage ad hoc corporate initiatives, both online and offline, as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Business, Marketing, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience in sizable organisations, with exposure to the public sector a plus. Candidates with less experience may be considered for the Manager position.
  • Experience in consultancy/advisory role, strategic planning, or working with chambers and associations is an advantage.
  • An effective communicator and impeccable copywriter, passionate and innovative in both English and Chinese. Fluent in Cantonese, Putonghua, and English.
  • Proficient in translating technical concepts into engaging stories for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A proactive problem-solver skilled in prioritising work and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Mature, meticulous, well-organised, and observant in managing stakeholders in complex contexts.
  • A positive, flexible team player with a can-do attitude and a solution-driven mentality.

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
