Senior Manager, Ecosystem and University Technology Transfer

The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Communications Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies, Advanced Electronic Components and Systems, IoT Sensing and AI Technologies, and Innovative Mind.


It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse.

Over the years, ASTRI has nurtured a pool of research, I&T talents and received numerous international awards for its pioneering innovations as well as outstanding business and community contributions. To date, ASTRI has transferred almost 1500 technologies to the industries and been granted more than 1100 patents in the Mainland, the US, and other countries.

To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Organise a high-level summit and a tech-themed exhibition targeted towards ecosystem stakeholders and general public, to advance and promote technology development in Hong Kong. Must be able to curate compelling event programme and exhibition content to ensure alignment with the objectives and requirements set by the government funding
  • Lead and mentor a team of event professionals, setting aggressive KPIs and keeping track of progress of operations in a timely manner
  • Develop strategic partnerships with government, authorities, universities or laboratories in Hong Kong and the Mainland to secure supporting organisations and multipliers for audience recruitment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to build and manage technology, connecting stakeholders in the ecosystem to facilitate technology commercialisation activities in Hong Kong.
  • Support senior management at key meetings and engagements with government offices, organisations or corporations
  • Provide support to management on special assignments and projects
  • Perform other related assignments as required by the supervisor

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years’ work experience, preferably in quangos or public organisations
  • At least 8 years of experience in project management and event management
  • Candidate with less qualification will also be considered as Manager
  • Well-versed in the I&T ecosystem in Hong Kong
  • Experience in working with the government and managing government funding projects are plus
  • Proven abilities in stakeholder management and driving collaborations and partnerships
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese
  • A good team player who is self-motivated, meticulous, well-organised and detailed-oriented
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills. Able to work independently and under pressure

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
