The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. Project Description:


The project team plans to develop a 5G O-RAN base station solution which includes Open Fronthaul interface (between O-RU and O-DU), F1 interface & 5G FAPI Translator Module (between O-DU and O-CU), and E2 interface (between O-DU and third-party AI RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC). The project outcome will be a technology platform in connecting HK and Greater Bay Area(GBA) R&D ecosystem.

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Participate and contribute to physical layer (PHY) algorithm design and system verifications in ASTRI's 5G/6G R&D projects. Engage in activities include the followings:
    • Perform theoretical analysis
    • Conduct computer-aided simulation / analysis
    • Participate in design and review sessions
    • Design and develop standard compliance verification systems
    • Contribute to ASTRI's patent portfolio
    • Provide system support for DSP and FPGA implementation
    • Provide system support for protocol stack integration
    • Track and analyze evolvement of latest standard (e.g. 5G and beyond, V2X, IoT, unlicensed and shared spectrum)
    • Physical layer (PHY) algorithm design and performance simulations
    • Provide technical contribution towards proprietary or public air interface specifications

Job Requirements:

 

  • Graduate with a first-degree or higher degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Information Engineering or relevant disciplines, including non-local students, from a local university in Hong Kong.
  • Successfully completed the undergraduate/postgraduate program.
  • Experience in MATLAB/C/C++ programming language is a plus.
  • Experience with real-time software programming and multi-threaded programming is a plus.
  • Experience in wireless physical layer signal process is a plus.
  • Familiar with at least one modern wireless communication system, such as LTE, 5G and etc is a plus.
  • Experience with image processing and machine learning is a plus.

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
