The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Communications Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies, Advanced Electronic Components and Systems, IoT Sensing and AI Technologies, and Innovative Mind.
It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse.
Over the years, ASTRI has nurtured a pool of research, I&T talents and received numerous international awards for its pioneering innovations as well as outstanding business and community contributions. To date, ASTRI has transferred almost 1500 technologies to the industries and been granted more than 1100 patents in the Mainland, the US, and other countries.
To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):
Job Responsibilities:
Ecosystem Management and Technology Commercialisation
- Develop and implement comprehensive strategies to manage ASTRI's technology ecosystems, connecting key stakeholders and facilitating seamless technology commercialisation activities.
- Bridge ASTRI with industry partners, universities, and research institutions to accelerate the pace of commercialising and productising technologies, discoveries, and inventions into real-world applications.
- Explore collaboration opportunities with local and overseas universities in terms of technology exchange, joint research projects and talent development etc.
Strategic Partnerships and International Expansion:
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with government agencies, authorities, universities, and research laboratories to support ASTRI's international expansion and facilitate its presence in overseas markets.
- Spearhead the establishment of collaborative agreements and joint initiatives that leverage ASTRI's technological capabilities and expertise to drive global innovation and impact.
Event Organising and Promotion:
- Organise a diverse range of events, ranging from small-scale workshops, exhibitions, and competitions to city-wide conferences, to advance and promote technology development within Hong Kong, engaging both local and international stakeholders.
- Leverage these platforms to showcase ASTRI's technological advancements, foster knowledge sharing, and facilitate meaningful connections within the innovation and technology (I&T) ecosystem.
- Organise different outreach programmes for ASTRI's senior executives to explore international markets.
Special Assignments and Projects:
- Offer comprehensive support to the management team on special assignments and projects, contributing your specialised knowledge, problem-solving skills, and project management expertise to ensure successful outcomes.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above with at least 8 years of work experience, preferably in quangos or public organizations. Candidates with less experience will also be considered.
- Well-versed in the I&T ecosystem in Hong Kong.
- Experience in working with the government and managing government funding projects are plus.
- Proven abilities in stakeholder management and driving collaborations and partnerships.
- Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
- A good team player who is self-motivated, meticulous, well-organised and detailed-oriented.
- Occasional business travels may be required.
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills. Able to work independently and under pressure.

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
