The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under four Technology Divisions: Communications Technologies, Trust and AI Technologies, Integrated Circuits and Systems, and IoT Sensing and AI Technologies.
It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse.
Over the years, ASTRI has nurtured a pool of research, I&T talents and received numerous international awards for its pioneering innovations as well as outstanding business and community contributions. To date, ASTRI has transferred almost 1400 technologies to the industries and been granted more than 1000 patents in the Mainland, the US, and other countries.
To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):
Job Responsibilities:
- Identify the pain points of industries or government entities and explore how ASTRi's capabilities and IP may lead to new R&D projects that provide the solutions.
- Report to the Director of Smart City to drive the growth to the territories.
- Explore licensing and commercialisation opportunities of ASTRi's comprehensive IP suite. Facilitate licensing and commercialisation by engaging system integrators in the ecosystem.
- Work closely with internal teams and external partners to strategise and build pipelines of collaboration projects.
- Develop a thorough understanding of ASTRI's capabilities and innovations to identify opportunities with prospective clients.
- Participate in the preparation and follow-up of those projects, where appropriate.
- Leverage existing connections to develop and grow the client base in the targeted sector.
- Work with researchers to initiate research projects with different clients.
- Presales support to the Smart City team.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above with minimum of 5 years of work experience in sales/ marketing/ business development/ R&D in the technology sector. Engineering/ Science background will be a plus.
- Experienced in sales and business development with a track record of building and growing customer bases. Possess strong sales, pitching and stakeholder management skills.
- A good understanding of new technology areas such as FinTech, IoT, 5G, AI, Big Data and Cybersecurity would be advantageous.
- Interested in technologies with strong business acumen and a strategic mindset.
- An independent self-starter with a sales-oriented and meticulous personality, an aggressive working attitude and a strong desire to succeed.
- Good command of English and Chinese, fluent Putonghua is a plus.
- Technical background plus sales experience is required.
- Experience in working on or working with research projects preferred.
- Experience in Smart City preferred.
- Experience in deal hub operation.

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
