Manager / Assistant Manager, Corporate Communications

The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Communications Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies, Advanced Electronic Components and Systems, IoT Sensing and AI Technologies, and Innovative Mind.


It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse.

Over the years, ASTRI has nurtured a pool of research, I&T talents and received numerous international awards for its pioneering innovations as well as outstanding business and community contributions.

 

To date, ASTRI has transferred almost 1500 technologies to the industries and been granted more than 1100 patents in the Mainland, the US, and other countries.

 

To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, the successful candidate will:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive communications and media relations strategies for ASTRI’s corporate events, promotional activities, executive profiling and public affairs

  • Prepare bilingual PR materials (such as press releases, media kit and FAQs) and craft bilingual communications for senior executives, including key messages, speeches and PowerPoint presentations

  • Assist in producing corporate literature such as brochures, e-newsletters and annual reports

  • Manage ASTRI’s social media accounts, with a focus on creating engaging digital content that reflects the organisation's values and goals. Develop a content calendar, design posts, and collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure cohesive messaging.

  • Support the planning and execution of corporate branding and public engagement initiatives, and organise media events like press conference

  • Manage ASTRI’s social media accounts and produce creative digital content in collaboration with internal departments and external stakeholders

  • Act as a media contact, pitch for media opportunities, and respond to media enquiries and requests promptly and effectively

  • Monitor social and media coverage to identify PR opportunities and identify potential reputational risks

  • Assist in preparing communications materials for issue and crisis management

  • Undertake ad-hoc projects as assigned by the supervisor

 

Job Requirements:

  • University degree in Language, Marketing, or Journalism with at least five years’ experience in marketing or corporate communications. Candidates with less experience may also be considered.

  • Experience in media or public organisations is advantageous.

  • Excellent writing skills in both Chinese and English; proficiency in spoken Cantonese, English and Putonghua

  • Proven success in planning and executing publicity campaigns, with strong coordination skills across teams

  • Strong project management, communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills

  • In-depth knowledge of social media platforms and hands-on experience in analytics and reporting tools

  • A good understanding of the local and Mainland media landscape, with an established media network is an advantage.

  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
