Deputy Director, Secured Systems Platforms

The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Communications Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies, Advanced Electronic Components and Systems, IoT Sensing and AI Technologies, and Innovative Mind.


It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse.

Over the years, ASTRI has nurtured a pool of research, I&T talents and received numerous international awards for its pioneering innovations as well as outstanding business and community contributions. To date, ASTRI has transferred almost 1400 technologies to the industries and been granted more than 1000 patents in the Mainland, the US, and other countries.

To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):

 

Job Responsibilities: 

 

  • Supervise software and hardware team in project planning and execution, and manpower planning.
  • Monitor and maintain healthy cashflow of the group.
  • Explore and lead the team to develop latest AI and Trust technologies, set R&D direction and roadmap in Fintech, Smart City, Web3 and AI applications.
  • Strengthen group core competence and cross-team collaborations.
  • Assist technology division leader in executing company policies and fostering company values in the division.
  • Collaboration with industries in technology dissemination and commercialization.
  • Collaboration with universities in technology research.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as assigned.

 

Job Requirements: 

 

  • PhD holder, Master’s degree holder in Computer Science/Computer Engineering/Information Engineering or relevant disciplines.
  • At least 5 years of experience in project management and staff management.
  • At least 10 years of experience in software technology development.
  • Candidates with less experience will also be considered.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in cryptography, cryptocurrency, and blockchain application development.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in product development with software/hardware integration.
  • Knowledge and experience in embedded system development, CPU architecture, hardware design and real time OS is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in generative AI model training and application development is a plus.
  • Experience in customer liaison in product concept exploration, product feature planning, product development, and support services.
  • Experience in university research collaboration is a plus.
  • Experience in Fintech, Smart City, Web3 and AI applications is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skill, good presentation skill.
  • Ability to lead and motivate staff to contribute, innovate, and excel in their work.

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
