The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Communications Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies, Advanced Electronic Components and Systems, IoT Sensing and AI Technologies, and Intelligent Perception and Control Technologies.
It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse.
Over the years, ASTRI has nurtured a pool of research, I&T talents and received numerous international awards for its pioneering innovations as well as outstanding business and community contributions. ASTRI has transferred about 1,600 technologies to the industries and has been granted close to 1,200 patents in the Mainland, the United States, and other countries.
To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):
Report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the CCO will oversee the development and execution of strategies that drive revenue growth, market expansion, and innovative partnership and client engagement. This role requires a leader with proven expertise in strategic account management, technical and channel sales, marketing, intellectual property management and business development. The CCO will collaborate closely with other senior executives to ensure alignment with organisational goals, develop integrated sales and marketing strategies, build and lead a high-performing team, and cultivate strong relationships with key clients and partners.
Job Responsibilities:
- Define and implement comprehensive commercial strategies that support sustainable growth, lead the team to achieve performance targets, and drive market expansion and revenue growth through effective sales and marketing plans, ensuring alignment with executive priorities.
- Develop and execute strategic account management by building and nurturing local and global client relationships while leveraging partnerships for cross-border collaborations and new business opportunities.
- Drive technical sales and business development initiatives by developing solution-based proposals and utilising in-depth knowledge of ASTRI’s R&D technologies to communicate value propositions and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver innovative, market-driven solutions.
- Lead intellectual property and commercialisation strategies by safeguarding ASTRI’s innovations, managing the IP portfolio, and driving value creation through structured licensing frameworks and spin-offs.
- Accelerate market development, particularly in Hong Kong, Mainland China, ASEAN countries, and internationally by building strategic partnerships, fostering collaboration with government bodies, technology institutions and universities, and leading cross-border initiatives to expand ASTRI’s international presence and influence.
- Develop and implement partnership plans, expand the partner network, strengthen relationships to maximise performance, and drive marketing initiatives aligned with channel objectives.
- Shape and execute marketing strategy by analysing market trends and competitive landscapes to inform decision-making, while identifying new revenue streams to support long-term market diversification and growth.
Job Requirements:
- Degree holder in business, management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years’ relevant work experience, preferably in the technology sector, as well as experience with reputable organisations, government or semi-government bodies.
- At least 10 years of experience at the senior management level (C-level or equivalent).
- Proven success in business development across various markets, particularly in Hong Kong, Mainland China, ASEAN countries, and internationally.
- Demonstrated ability to sell innovative solutions and ideas, blending technical, legal, and business skills.
- Experience collaborating with C-level executives to promote research technologies and develop joint research projects, and leading a business development team to deliver measurable results in the technology sector.
- Strong track record in identifying and capitalising on new markets, developing business models, and applying value selling techniques, complemented by excellent pitching skills and multi-level stakeholder management.
- Existing strong network with government bodies, technology institutions, industry stakeholders, and associations in Hong Kong, Mainland and globally is an advantage.
- A goal-driven individual with a keen interest in emerging technologies and a strategic approach to business challenges.
- Exceptional negotiation, presentation, interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Excellent command of English, Putonghua, and Cantonese to effectively communicate across diverse stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel as required.

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
