The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under four Technology Divisions: Communications Technologies, Trust and AI Technologies, Integrated Circuits and Systems, and IoT Sensing and AI Technologies.

 

It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse.

 

Over the years, ASTRI has nurtured a pool of research, I&T talents and received numerous international awards for its pioneering innovations as well as outstanding business and community contributions. To date, ASTRI has transferred almost 1400 technologies to the industries and been granted more than 1000 patents in the Mainland, the US, and other countries.

 

To support our constant endeavour to position Hong Kong as a world-class smart city and an international hub of innovation and technology, we are seeking qualified professionals to fill the following position(s):

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct research and development on electronics system design and development, including smart construction system, robotic system, wireless system, HMI, health care and/or transportation system.
  • Design and develop the hardware, software and data processing for intelligent system/devices involving AIOT techniques.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders and project management.
  • Manage suppliers/contractors. Support in-house verification and/or on-site validation.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in technology and contribute to the development of innovative solutions, generating new patents and intellectual property.
  • Research and develop cutting-edge technologies with new patents/Ips developed.

 

Job Requirements: 

 

  • Be Innovative and dare to try.
  • Bachelor degree or above in Automation/Computer Science/Electrical and Electronic Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Mechatronics Engineering, or related disciplines,
  • 8+ years of experiences in R&D, control/AI algorithm development and project management.
  • Expert in at least one of following areas: AI, AR/VR, digital signal processing, robotics, motion control, wireless communication, positioning technologies, power management and/or Human-Machine Interface (HMI) technologies.
  • Proven track record in problem solving by utilizing advanced techniques for smart construction, robotic, wireless system, HMI, health care and/or transportation industries.
  • Proven ability to stay updated with emerging technologies, contributing to the development of intellectual property.
  • Knowledge on productization experience, site trial management, EMC testing, reliability test and/or quality management will be a plus.
  • Familiar with Government Funded Scheme projects will be a plus.
  • Experienced in liaison with suppliers/contractors, governmental bodies, associations and/or OEM partners will be a plus.
  • Familiar with embedded systems, software programming like C/C++/C#/Python, middleware like ROS and/or electronics hardware design tools.
  • Good command of both written/spoken English and/or Chinese.

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary and performance-linked variable pay. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical, insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
