ASTRI FinTech Future Leader Academy 2025

The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Communications Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies, Advanced Electronic Components and Systems, IoT Sensing and AI Technologies, and Innovative Mind.

It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse.

Over the years, ASTRI has nurtured a pool of research, I&T talents and received numerous international awards for its pioneering innovations as well as outstanding business and community contributions. To date, ASTRI has transferred almost 1500 technologies to the industries and been granted more than 1100 patents in the Mainland, the US, and other countries.

Programme Details

The FinTech Future Leader Academy by ASTRI is an 8-week comprehensive internship programme between June and August 2025, with supports from ASTRI’s FinTech team. Through this programme, you will learn the principles of FinTech, get hands-on experience in handling real-world FinTech projects, and gain exposure to some major FinTech institutions in Hong Kong. Also, the programme offers:

• On-the-job training and assignments with ASTRI’s FinTech team
• Experience of participating in FinTech projects
• Field visits to a variety of prestigious financial and technology services companies
• Mentoring support and guidance from ASTRI

Job Requirements

• Undergraduate and Postgraduate STEM students (i.e. Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), or Business & Finance students on track to graduate in 2025, 2026, or 2027
• Aspiring to be tech-enablers for the financial services industry
• Able to create innovative solutions from the applied technology point of view
• Creative, open-minded, visionary, and interested in FinTech
• Fluent in written and spoken English
