5G/6G Solution Verification - Lead Engineer / Senior Engineer / Engineer

The Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) was founded by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2000 with the mission of enhancing Hong Kong’s competitiveness through applied research. ASTRI’s core R&D competence in various areas is grouped under five Technology Divisions: Communications Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Trust Technologies, Advanced Electronic Components and Systems, IoT Sensing and AI Technologies, and Innovative Mind.

It is applied across six core areas which are Smart City, Financial Technologies, New Industrialisation and Intelligent Manufacturing, Digital Health, Application Specific Integrated Circuits, and Metaverse.

To date, ASTRI has transferred almost 1400 technologies to the industries and been granted more than 1000 patents in the Mainland, the US, and other countries.

Job Responsibilities:

• Participate and contribute to physical layer (PHY) System / DSP / FPGA solution verifications in multiple platforms in ASTRI’s 5G/6G R&D projects
• Engage in activities including the followings:
  • • Develop and maintain test infrastructure software for verifying integrated System / DSP / FPGA
    • Verify the integrated System/DSP/FPGA solution for wireless communication
    • Track and analyze the verification/testing results
    • Provide verification support and troubleshooting for DSP and FPGA implementation
    • Build up know-hows on 5G/6G standardization

Job Requirements:

• Master’s or Bachler’s degree holder in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Engineering, Telecommunications or relevant disciplines
• Experiences in programming/scripting language such as MATLAB, Python, C/C++/C#, Tcl, a plus; Linux platform development, a plus
• Fresh graduates may also be considered
• Good communications and interpersonal skills. Be willing to listen to others to enable timely and high-quality information flows
• Knowledge of radio communications theory and digital signal processing. Background in cellular communication systems across PHY, MAC, and RF is preferred
• Proficiency in English and Chinese, both spoken and written

The appointment will be on renewable contract terms with a competitive salary. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical and dental insurance coverage and contribution to MPF. The incumbent will normally work a five-day week.
